A serious eye injury has forced veteran Wallabies and NSW Waratahs prop Benn Robinson into retirement.

The 31-year-old, 72-Test stalwart made the announcement on Tuesday, seven weeks after copping an accidental poke in the eye from Brumbies lock Rory Arnold at a lineout during a Super Rugby clash at Allianz Stadium.

With 151 games for NSW to his credit, including 144 in Super Rugby since debuting in 2006, Robinson hangs up the boots as the most-capped player in Waratahs history.
